Reflect on your Writing Center experience

Today I had an appointment to at the writing center, I had just started my paper the Monday before but I still felt like the points that I was trying to make in my paper was not clear. So today I met with a teacher at the writing center named Randy and he helped me with my MySpace and FaceBook comparison essay. Randy helped me get a better clear point on how MySpace and FaceBook are similar and by us agreeing on these topics I got to understand more about FaceBook since I am more comfortable with MySpace since I have a MySpace. Randy helped me point out how these two sites are similar in some applications but also very different but I decided just to give in detail on how these sites really are very similar to the T. My experience at the writing center also helped me with an outline for my essay because I could have laid-out my paragraphs in different ways by listing the similarities either one after the other or listing everything about MySpace and then listing everything about FaceBook. I also was able to use a bubble brainstorm to help me connect everything that is similar with MySpace and FaceBook. Since my helper at the writing center was a FaceBook user he explained to me how FaceBook worked and I told him how Myspace worked and we both got to point out what was similar and what was different and how FaceBook used this application and how MySpace used another application, but all of their main points that they aim for are all similar and that really is the main picture in if they really are different or the same and I personally think that they are the same because people use MySpace and FaceBook for the same reasons and just because MySpaces layout is different from FaceBook does not mean that they are different because like I said the main point is that they are used for the same reasons, like communicating with people by keeping in contact or meeting new people, expressing themselves by blogging and updating their status, and by being able to limit the users friends to who the user would like by being able to accept and deny and friend request that was sent to that user, by this the user can over look who would like to be their friend to see if they know the person or maybe just a new user.

Reflect on Todays Exerience

Today we went to the writing center to start with our rough draft for our comparison or contrast essay. By doing this in class helped me put my essay into MLA format and helped me get used to using MLA format as well. Doing this assignment in class helped me really get to look at the similarities between MySpace and FaceBook like the way messaging and instant messaging are used because a user can message any user they would like, friend or non friend and still be able to send them a message. But in instant messaging a user can only instant message a user that must be a friend and must be online. MySpace and Facebook are also similar in the way the user can accept or deny any friend requests. By users being able to pick and choose their friends,it gives the user the power to control the friends that they have. MySpace and FaceBook both also have a section to where the user can express themselves as an individual. Users can update their status at any time that they are on these networking sites by writing in their status and mood. This helps keep up to date with maybe what the user is doing or what mood the user might be in.

“Facebook and Divorce: Airing your Dirty Laundry”. This article is about how these social networking sites can be good if a user is trying to make relations, keep relations with a person but not really if a person is trying to end relations. These sites can cause more drama in an ending a relationship if any or just be the main source of it. A couple was getting a divorce and on the husbands facebook wall his soon to be ex wife posted embarrassing things about him that all his friends that were on his facebook got to see. After the husband blocked his wife she also then picked girls that she saw on the husbands’ wall and sent emails to them letting them know that he was married and had kids because he left that important information out when writing about himself on his facebook page. Facebook and Myspace can also be used as evidence for lawyers because people use these sites usually either put too much personal information or not enough personal important information. By putting too much information is like a person is putting up like wild pictures or saying that they drink if the person is not even supposed to be drinking. “How Safe is MySpace?” This article is about how MySpace needs to step up their security by having the right age of a user that is on MySpace rather than just typing in a birth date that might not even be theirs and they do not even have to be true. There was cases in this article which says that criminal charges are pursuing a 19 year old boy had sex with a 14 year old girl that he met over MySpace but the whole time he thought she was a 16 year old girl like she had said and put on her age on MySpace. Another incident was when a 16 year old girl flew all the way to Jordan to get married. The whole issue of these situations is either the children lying about their age or the other person is lying about their age and there is absolutely no way of finding that out unless you have meet the person or have already met that person. MySpace’s chief security guard said that there is no technology that exists to show the real identity of a person online. All these issues of lying about the age or being able to put any age is causing more and more criminal cases that could have been prevented.

Dana Boyd video

Today we were in the computer lab doing a survey and after we completed our survey we had to watch a youtube video called Dana Boyd Handheld Learning Conference. This video was mainly about how the education of technology has been evolved over decades. Dana Boyd in this video is explaining how technology is used on an everyday bases from television to computers to cell phones, and now practically anything else you can think of. It has a huge impact on our lives but some say that it is just too much. Dana Boyd explains in this video how she thinks that technology is becoming too much and people are forgetting how the world used to be without technology on a daily bases. Many people do not go out and meet that many people anymore because they think that eharmony or match.com will fix it all, and maybe to some extent that might be true but I think that people are losing the value of living without technology as well as we gain from it. I remember I would have everyone’s number memorized because I did not have a cell phone and that was the only way I would be able to remember my friends and families numbers, but now that I have a cell phone I just save all the numbers and not even have no idea what that persons number begins with. But do not get me wrong I think that technology has its positive and negative sides to it because technology has helped our generation a lot but there is also a limit on how much technology we absolutely need. I had seen on the news that a car can now be driven with an iphone! An iphone are you kidding like would you really want to absolutely want to go in a car with someone and trust their driving because an iphone is steering the wheel. I do not know about everyone else but I sure would not want to put my life at risk like that. I just think that there is a limit of how much technology should be used and if it is a necessity in life. Also it is just throwing out some of the good stuff that needs to be taught instead of just electronically stuff because technology comes with problems and some stuff is just better off without those extra problems.

Reflect on today's experience;

Today were supposed to do a worksheet but instead the teacher Mrs.Crawford explained more in details about our essay. She gave us a comparison and contrast worksheet that we are supposed to fill out as were doing our rough draft for our comparison or contrast essay. She also answered one of my questions whether or not we needed to compare and contrast or to compare or contrast, so she explained the answer to just pick one and I am glad I asked that question because if not I would have been doing a compare and contrast essay paper instead of picking just one. On the back of that compare and contrast worksheet we as a class were calling out the differences and similarities of myspace and facebook. This exercise was very important to me because I do now know how to use facebook and students in my class were helping me understand the differences and some of the things that they have in common. On both of the social networking sites you can upload pictures and videos, add friends, comment other people’s pictures and pages and listen to music. But on myspace you can customize your page to how you want it to look and take out the things on there that you do not want on there or that you do not want anyone to see, I have also just learned from my teacher saying it that you can also search for jobs on myspace. On facebook I have also learned that you can be a fan of a page instead of adding them as a friend. Also on facebook I have learned that there is a limit of how many friends you can have on your friends list, as on myspace you can have as any friends as you choose to have even if it is a totally ridiculous amount. As the class continued our teacher was going over of the important things that we need in our paper. I had asked her another question about the requirements for our paper and it was because she had said that we could not use the word you or use conjunctions. So that is when my question came to mind that how can we write a paper without the word you in it, and that is when she answered me to direct the word you to whoever the audience is and substitute that answer with the word you.

Facebook;Myspace

Today we went to the computer class and made a myspace and facebook account if we did not have one already. While we were making our accounts we also were able to add people that were in our class so we can have our classmates as our friends. I have had a myspace since I was about 14 in middle school. To me making a facebook was about the same as making a myspace but there was some differences and similarities. I have only seen myspace evolve but then again I would not even be able to recognize if facebook has been evolved because I do not know how facebook was before. The main thing that I like about myspace rather then facebook is because on myspace you can make a profile yours and by me saying yours I mean you can decorate it any way you want or just make it reflect you, you can also put a profile song on your page to where when someone gets on your page you hear the song. I am not really a social networking person but the reason why I have myspace is to keep in touch with the people and friends that I already know or meet, and by being able to make my profile page mine with my personality just by looking at it I like it. Myspace also has a top friends list which you can pick how many people you want on your top and who you put on your top as well. I understand that this does cause a lot of problems with immature people when they do not understand that if you are not on someone’s top it really is no big deal. I also learned how myspace and facebook are also alike in many ways and some people think that myspace is copying facebook or facebook is copying myspace, but either or it does not really matter because at the end of the day people pick the one that they prefer. Some of the things that myspace and facebook have in common is that at the bottom they have an instant messaging thing to chat with other users on myspace or facebook. Other things also that myspace and facebook have in common are some of the apps and games that they have on their sites like some popular games called mafia wars and poker.

Dove Evolution

“Dove Evolution”. Today I saw a very interesting video and it showed a girl walking into a room with no makeup on and her hair just down and natural, as the video kept playing you start to see hair stylist and makeup artists come in and start doing her makeup and hair. As this transformation continues you see the drastic change between a beautiful natural girl and a beautiful girl. This girl of course is beautiful either way and she does look like model even without makeup because you see her natural beauty but in this video that was not enough. Even when the girl had her makeup finished and her hair extensions put on to make her hair look fuller and curlier this was still not enough. After she has already all this makeup on and her hair done they continue to make changes with her but now you see the picture that the photographers picked for his billboard but you still continue to see changes. Now this picture is being changed dramatically on the computer by making changes in her eyes by making them bigger and wider, making her neck longer and just other little details. But all these little details are changing her appearance and change the way she looks as a person; as the video still continues you see a sentence saying “No wonder our perception of beauty is distorted”. To me this was a very truthful reality that kids and teenagers do not see in the modeling industry like they should. All the kids and teenagers see are the finishing touches in the magazines and on the billboards, but as I saw in the video most of the picture was edited. But the kids do not see the process t goes through and how they edit it or some do not even think it could have been edited because they just think that is the way models look because that is how people and industries try to make it seem like that is how the ideal model is supposed to look or even the ideal girl. That is why so many children and teens now and days are trying to change themselves to be like the girls in the magazines and billboards but they need to know that even those beautiful girls have been edited and changed by inappreciative people in the industry that should just be happy that they have beautiful girls to even want to model or promote their products.

“Colleges Scan Facebook During Admissions”. This article is about how a quarter of some colleges and universities use Facebook to scan an admiring applicant’s personal life through their online profile. This means that a wild picture posted on their Facebook page as their default might give off the impression of a party person and will kind of eliminate themselves from the admission advisor’s eyes because they would not want that type of reputation in their university. NACAC showed that Myspace and Facebook are helping campus officials decide which students are accepted and rejected every year, but I did not say how often it affected a campus official’s decision. Social networking experts and College Officials say reviewing applicants online profiles are becoming more common in a higher education. To me I think it has its good and bad sides about his way to pick and choose applicants. The reason why I think this is a good idea is because a person should represent themselves on their online profile the way they would in person. So if a person did not want something to be known about them then they should not put it on their online profile, because some people get mad saying all this stuff how people view them because of their profile, well then I honestly don’t think they should be presenting themselves in a way how they would not want to be viewed. But I also think that maybe people should not always assume and judge people by what they do or how they look. Because you never know maybe a very intelligent student with intuition and goals just decides to go out one night and they do party or whatever and end up posting the pictures on their facebook but it was only one night and the campus officials view that one picture and say no we are not going to accept them because they party, but I honestly do not think that all a person’s decisions should get down to affecting whether they get into a university or not because like I said it could have been just one night or just a celebration and the campus officials end up taking it the wrong way. But then by that one picture that smart intelligent kid loses out on the opportunity to get in to that university but then a kid without a wild picture but not that motivated to do well or maybe is just trying to apply to that school because its parents would get in, I just don’t think that’s right.

Pandora/LastFM

Today we were in the computer lab and we had an assignment checking out the different music websites that we can use on a daily bases. We went to Pandora.com which is a music site. We also went to a website called LastFM.com. We went to both of these music sites to see if we preferred one or the other better or if they were both similar in different ways. So what I thought of first when I was on the website Pandora.com, I noticed that I could not look up one song that I wanted, I had to just type n the artist name and see if any of the songs that popped up were any of those that I was looking for in the beginning. Also on Pandora.com They give you like a station with songs that are grouped to the artist that you were looking for, like the site will get all the songs that kind of categorize in the same group that you were looking for with the same artist or genre. Pandora.com also has a limit of songs they layout in front of you on the screen but if you do not want to hear the song you either press fast forward or click the thumbs down button which will never play the song again. But also on Pandora.com, once you fast forward a song and try to go to the next and the next, they will only let you only a certain amount of times and once you use all those times you will have to let the song play that is on. LastFM.com I think is better personally for me because you can look up the exact song that you want and they will give you the list of songs that match that title or songs with similar titles. And also with LastFM.com it is not like Pandora.com where you can only fast forward so many times or you have to pick out what song you like out of the songs they gave you. But other than the differences these two websites have they are a lot alike.

Reflecting on your writing center experience

Today I went to the writing center to get help on my descriptive essay paper. Going to the writing center has helped me out a lot in the past on my etiquette essay, so I knew that the writing center would help me out a lot too on this essay. I went to the writing center with my descriptive essay rough draft to see what I needed to add to the paper or take away from the paper to make it my best. The teacher in the writing center read over my paper and asked me what I felt I needed help on, and I told her that I needed to make my essay longer and with more sensory details. So we reviewed my descriptive essay and went over on where I can add more details and feelings so that the readers can get more of an idea of what I saw as a viewer of the video vlog instead of me just telling about like in a summary. By also adding more details and feeling I can make my paper into enough paragraphs as well, because my video vlog was only about 4 minutes long and the average video vlog was about 6 I needed to make sure I had enough of these details to make it the 5 or 6 paragraphs as needed fer each minute of the vlog. The teacher in the writing center also helped me change all the words that were past tense into present tense because I had to talk about this vlog as it was happening right now instead of me stating everything the girl had said in the vlog as past tense. I also got help by the teacher writing because she was writing on a scratch sheet of paper what went where in my essay and categorizing the main topics so I can divide them into the paragraphs that were required for this descriptive essay. I don’t think I would change this writing experience because it did help me a lot and gave me the re-assurance that I needed to feel confident about this essay.

Reflecting on todays experience; commenting blogs

Today we went to the computer lab and today’s assignment was to comment our classmates and other people on their blogs. I think that this was a good assignment because you get to see what other people thought of your blog and they could maybe give you tips on what you need to improve to make your blog better. I checked my blogs comments to see what my classmates put and I got a comment on one of my blogs about my descriptive essay and it was nice to see that someone knew which video vlog I was talking about in my blog, so by that I felt like even though it was just jotting down a bit about that video vlog, I knew that someone that had seen that vlog was re-picturing the vlog again in her head because I was writing about it. I also felt good about myself knowing that I was doing a good job on my blogs, keeping up with the blogs that were due and keeping up with the expectations on how many words there supposed to be and what exactly they need to be about and put that all together to write my blogs.

Reflecting on todays experience

Today in class we made a time line for our Descriptive essay. Our descriptive essay is going to be about a video vlog that we picked on you tube and we need to describe everything we saw in the video to write the descriptive essay so we can This helped me layout the descriptive details needed for the descriptive essay. At the beginning of the time line we wrote minute one for the beginning of the video vlog and a part in the middle of the time line that said 3 mins, because the average times of the video vlogs are about 6 minutes. And then at the end of the time line we wrote 6 minutes or the end time of the video vlog. This timeline helped me with all the details and little information that was said in the video and at what time or sequence the action was done in. What also helped me was when I was watching the video I had a scratch sheet of paper that I tried to write down every detail and action that I saw at what time of the video and what happened. So by doing that I knew what was said at what time and what action was done at what time as well. So all I had to do was just review the video vlog several of times to see if there was any action, movement or anything said that I missed in the other times of me watching the video vlog. But I think that without the time line I would of maybe sequenced things the wrong way or would not have put the actions or things said in the correct order because the time line helped me see the video vlog for every minute of it. So I think that did help me out a lot and I don’t know if I would have thought of that workshop help on my own. So this was a great way for me to feel more confident about my descriptive essay and knowing that I put things in the right order.

“The 1st Vlog”. This videos introduction starts off by a girl named Holly, she is sitting on a chair in front of her computer the whole time while she is able to do this vlog. Holly looks light skinned and has dark hair that is pulled back into a pony tail, she is wearing a white t-shirt with black words and sayings on it. After she introduced herself she explained that she didn’t know how to start off or what to talk about on her first vlog so she decided to talk about herself. Holly is 18 years old and she goes to high school half a day, she is a graduate but she goes for the labs. After school she usually goes to work or goes home and sits and plays video games. A lot of her friends went off to college but she decided that she was going to take some time off and save money and to make sure she new what she wanted to do. Holly also said that it was pretty scary thinking about leaving home and maybe that could be one of the reasons why she also stayed. Holly has two cats named smokey and squeaky, then she picks up smokey from the floor to show to the camera so you could see him, he was black and fluffy, she said he’s about 9 now and before she put him down she gave him a kiss. After that she also wanted to show her other cat named squeaky. She gets his attention by making a noise with her mouth so he could come to her then she bent down from the chair and picked him up. Squeaky is a white cat with black on the sides of him and with a black spot on and around his nose. Holly says that he is a runt because he was the smallest out of the litter, even though he is a runt he likes to scratch and make a lot of noise.. In this vlog there is a jazz or classical type of background music. Holly says that her vlogs are going to be just her rambling about things she sees on tv or what she likes or doesn’t like. She doesn’t have any viewers yet, but she is trying to make her vlogs more interesting rather then sitting in front of the computer with no one in the room but her cats, she plans to do more then just vlogs shes hoping to do other stuff like music videos. Holly closes her vlog by ending it with thanks for watching and shes planning to post up more vlogs in the next few weeks so to look out for them.

Mike Wesch "An Anthropological Introduction to You Tube"

Today I watched a video by Mike Wesch “ An Anthropological Introduction to You Tube”. It was a very interesting video on how you tube became of the popular website. Mike Wesch had said in the video that you tube produced more viewers in 6 months then more then 3 networks in 60 years. You tube is on 9232 hours/day, more then 385 always on channels, over 200,000 videos are music videos and over 88% is new. You tube became so popular because it spread from person to person just like myspace, everyone was using it or uploading videos on you tube. Before you tube it was also very difficult to upload videos on to the internet. Mike Wesch produced a video on to you tube about texting and how people should rethink it because it brings people together like a community, and how people should rethink a lot of things and themselves. He uploaded that video a few days before the super bowl and it became number 1 by the super bowl and stayed in the number one spot beating a lot of super bowl commercials that was made with millions of dollars and Mr.Wesch produced it and uploaded it himself. Mike Wesch is an anthropologist professor and he has students that participate on what they study so they upload videos to you tube as well. A rapper was also made famous by the you tube craze because he made a song on his computer and made a dance to it and it turned into an internet and dance craze, it was the soulja boy dance. He had people from kids to teachers to professors and to any other kind of person you can think of doing the soulja boy dance, and when the video came out it had a bunch of people on you tube re creating the dance that he made.

BLOG 10! Reflect the Difference between Blog 3 and Etiquette Essay

The difference between Blog 3’s email and my etiquette essay is now with my etiquette essay I understand how to write a professional letter to my teacher. In Blog 3 I was writing to a friend about my bad grade so there was a total difference in the vocabulary and emotion. Another difference is in my Blog 3’s email to my friend I was of course rambling on how could the teacher be so unfair and that I was going to get in trouble with my mom and that the teacher would pick favorites, if I were to write an email like that to a professor they probably wouldn’t even want to read it. That was a very good tip that my teacher, Mrs.Crawford told me, that using emotion as reasons instead of facts isn’t going to convince anyone that you’re trying to talk to, it will most likely make them want to quit reading it. In my etiquette essay I was able to make my email longer by giving more details on to why I got the poor grade and what I can do to try and change it or to make it better, or at least and attempt that I am trying to get help in the topic that made me get that bad grade. As in Blog 3 I just stated all that I did to try and get that good grade but it didn’t work but I did not state anything that I can do to change the outcome. And in my etiquette essay I was being more positive on the outcome and stating that I am trying, and it would be a better outcome if given another chance to either re-take my final exam or if I could get a passing grade because of my effort.

Reflecting on our workshop experience

Today we did a group workshop to help us with our etiquette assignment. By us reading our essay to our group helped u understand what more details we need in our assignment or details or sentences that can make it better and more longer just by adding them. It was nice to read other people’s emails to see what they have written and to listen to see if there is any advice that they would give you on making your email better. While doing this it helps you get a better view on the assignment by listening to other people’s responses and the way they would ask for a grade change compared to the way you would ask. So I think that this assignment was a way for us to be prepared for the future in case this situation seems to happen.This assignment can even help us on being able to just write an email properly without the slang and other grammar that we may use and might not be correct. So I honestly think this assignment has helped me a lot in many ways. We also had to go to the Writing Center as well so we can get an extra perspective on our essay. By me going to the Writing Center I was able to get help on parts of my essay that needed changing or re-wording to make it sound better. And I liked this part because when they helped me with these problems they didn’t make me re-word the words to where it didn’t sound like me, so I felt comfortable with a paper that sounds like it actually came from my thoughts. That is the main idea of this essay is to write to your teacher on changing your grade on a failing test but the main point is of course to make it sound real and as if it is literally coming from you, so now with this assignment assigned I am prepared for whatever email that might need to be written in the future.

Summarizing today's articles..."Is eHarmony Biased Against Gays?"

Today in class Team #2 presented articles based on the subject, internet dating. The first article that was presented was “Is eHarmony Biased Against Gays?” by John Cloud. This was a really interesting article to me because it is written by a gay man and he was personally looking for love but he felt he wasn’t welcomed by eHarmony. It wasn’t just because he wasn’t interested, it was because on the main page it only gives you two options; “Men seeking Woman” and “Woman seeking Man”. So obviously he didn’t even fit in this category because it was “Men seeking Man”. He believes that this is because the founder of eHarmony is a conservative Christian. But The founder, Neil Clark Warren stated that it they have founded over 5,000 married couples and since in some states gay marriage is illegal. But what Mr. Warren had said next seemed like he was just sugar coating that previous sentence, because on his next sentence stated that gays are such exotic people and that he never understood them and since their relationships are illegal its best if you ignore them completely. This article has caught my attention more then the other articles because I believe that any one, same sex or not can fall in love with someone beyond their control. So if a man seems to love men and a woman seems to love women then you should just let it be. We are no one to judge anyone else’s life or judgments. And I believe that since Mr.Warren is Christian that it still doesn’t make that right to what he said. He should understand that only God can judge anyone’s life and he should just let it be, because those decisions are those peoples decisions and their going to live with their choices not Mr.Warren.

Reflectiong on today's experience...

Today in class we were talking about our email etiquette assignment that our class is having to do. It is a major grade so were going over on how to do our assignment. The topic of our email is about having to write our professor because of a bad grade and to see if he or she can change it. We also discussed the format on how we had to type it as well. Luckily Mrs.Crawford gave us a paper on the details on helping us write our email. That is what really helped me out a lot. It was fun in class because the way our teacher showed us how to write an email was by her pretending to write an email to a girl that was caught cheating with her boyfriend. It really was funny but serious as well because it did help me on what to write and in which paragraph and not to write just your emotions down because no one will want to read an email or a note with someone just rambling about how much their hurt or what they’ve been through. We also had to go over the things that are required in our email for it to even be turned in. The simple but important things we have to for our email assignment is to make sure we use MLA formatting such as using double spacing, white paper, black ink, and Times Roman Numeral (12pt). Without these done to our assignment it will not be accepted. We also are required to go to the Writing Center at our school so they can go over our paper and see if there is any changes that need to be made. It will also help us get someone else’s perspective on our email, to see what they think of it.

This situation is happening a lot around the united states, where colleges or schools want the students to carry these devices so they can interact with them and the academics together. Even though the schools do not benefit financially from these Apple devices, they do get 10% discount on Apple devices; dell and other brands offer the same deal as well. Teachers state that this will help also save classroom time by having the students listen to lectures or watch educational videos while walking to gym or somewhere else rather than wasting time on doing it in the classroom. It also states that just the cost of an iPhone is just about as equal as buying textbooks needed for class, but they can get an iPhone instead and read the chapter off of that.

But now and days there is plenty of people who do know the proper way of writing a sentence or the proper way on spelling a word ,but they still shorthand a sentence or word when they text it. But shorthand writing has been around since years ago and there wasn’t a problem then. Business men and women or people with the best of knowledge text and spell things the way they want to when texting. As said in this article people mainly hear only one side of the story and that usually is just the negative, that’s why I personally dissagree on the bad things people have to say about texting. “Reading,Writing, iPhoning” by Elizabeth Woyke, this atricle is about students being given apple products such as the iPhone and seeing how they benefit rom it. One school is actually promoting it as a mobile learning initiative. They say that these devices will give quick access to important information like local maps and acadeic calenders. Students will also have to pay for their iphone to AT&T every month and students who leave before the term is over have to pay. Even though theres the idea of that maybestudents will not learn with this device as a distraction or maybe they won’t be listening to their teachers. Their positive outlook is more better then the negatives. They also made plently of applications to fit for the class like word clouds,student pilots are going to be given these iphones to pin point places while in air, and they are also trying to devlop a panic button on the iphones so it can have the exact location on the person.

Reflecting on todays discussion...

Today in class we went over a lot of things that we are going to be doing this semester. We got a sylabus on what our assignments are going to be on and what is also required for the next class day. We have been doing a lot of blogs about different writing scenarios, which will be able to help us adapt to different writing techniques. By doing these blogs as well will help us be able to write an essay b how many words the teacher has gaven us. We will also be doing group activities that will help us learn how to interact well with others and to be able to do different parts to get the whole assignment done. By doing that will make us do a better job In what we do because it will have an effect on the whole team. College is more different from high school because we have to keep track of everything by ourselves, which will help us develop more responsibilities if we haven’t already. It makes us become more responsible because we hav to keep track of whats due without anyone telling us and we get to keep track of our grades by going to our pals account to keep us up to date on that as well. Most of our assignments are going to be from the computer or we will have articles or videos to look at so we can base our homework on that. We will also be making a myspace and a facebook page and write an compare and contrast essay on these two popular websites. I think it’s a great idea that we have to keep a hands on development on this course because were going to learn so much just by us having to keep track of things and by us doing research on things that people actually use and we can now have the background from it.

my letter to my friend...

Oh no celeste! Guess what? My science teacher Mr.Smiley gave me a C on my science fair project! I can't believe he can be so unfair. Some people didn't even come to school today because they knew it was the day to turn in our projects. So at least I tried to make my project cool like all the others ones, I also tried to decorate it more to make it more colorful and alive so it can leave an impression on him but NO! I even glued little popcorns on there! Why? Because my science fair project was seeing which popcorn brand had the least kernels after making it. I honestly don't know what I was thinking to even think that it would be cool to do a project on that. Huh? Well i guess I did, but I just like to get what I pay for. But no Mr.Smiley didn't look so smiley after I presented my project. I don't know why he is so unfair! This always happends to me! I knew I wasn't one of his favorites from he beginning of the year. He only gave good grades to the students that did projects on topics that you can predict someone doing, but I like to think out of the box and associate it to real life. And I thought that he would at least grade me on my attempt and effort to make a good grade, But NO I still can't believe this, and if you think that I am upset pshh wait until you see the way my mom is going to react. She is going to be mad knowing that I could've gotten a better grade. Now my A and B honor roll certificate is going to be taken away over a selfish decision my teacher made. Well I’ll talk to you later once I’m done being ungrounded.

My writing process.

A lot of people have different writing processes to suite their individual needs to be able to write. The first thing I do to begin my writing process is that I tell my mom that I am going to start my homework and if she can help take care of my daughter so I can be able to concentrate on my assignment. The second thing that I do is get a scrap sheet of paper so I can be able to brain storm my ideas. This helps me with my introduction and to help me get my other paragraphs started by helping me figure out the main reasons why I am writing what I am writing. My next step in my writing process is to start writing my paper. After I write a paragraph I go over it to see if I have made any mistakes, so when I go over my whole paper I shouldn’t have to change that many things around. I kind of take breaks in this process in case I lose my thoughts or if I just need to take a break to reboost my brain. So that’s when I go to the fridge and get some snacks and things to keep me going. This usually always helps me get back on track. After I take my few minute break I get back to work so I can get things done. I usually procrastinate until like the night before but I still get my work done and I think that’s when my train of thought comes to me better because I’m getting everything off my mind on that topic all at once.

How does technology help your life?

Technology helps my life in many ways. I think a cell phone is kind of a necessity in peoples lives because you never know what can happen at anytime, like a car accident or a flat tire. In case of an emergency you can also call 911 really quick from your cell phone. Computers help my life out a lot to in different ways. I can get on the computer to look for places to go eat, or find directions on the internet as well, or to check the weather. I also use the computer to go to learning websites because I have a two year old daughter. So I show her games that teaches you the abc's and there is also games that teaches you shapes too. So my daughter loves it. The tv also helps my life and my families lives in different ways also because my mom always watches the news to see what's going on in the city or in our community, as well as the world. We also find out very important information by the news.
